The day after, I had a great time at Maverick Festival seeing some memorable performances and soaking up the always warm, friendly atmosphere. I also had a lot of fun performing on the Jimmy Rodgers stage. Huge thanks to James Hodder and Tin Can Review for a lovely afternoon of live music.
One of my favourite acts of the weekend were Australia’s Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes – who I also saw perform last year – and I recently interviewed Lachlan for Songwriting Magazine ahead of their UK tour. It was great to catch up with them and also wonderful singer songwriter Imogen Clark. Here is us after their wonderful set in The Barn:
“This is a beautiful performance from Lisa as she accompanies herself on acoustic guitar with Alan Cook playing pedal steel guitar.” Huge thanks to Stephpar’s Song A Day for this lovely review of my brand new song “I Just Can’t Forget” performed in session for Whisperingbobtv
“Heartfelt lyrics, great singing and playing. Hope this Apple Tree will bear more of these in the future” Thanks also to Radio Campagne in The Netherlands for their kind words and all the airplay of my music.

Had a great evening at BBC Radio Norfolk this week being the Tuesday guest on Matthew Gudgin’s Drivetime Show. Loved talking all things music, my career journey so far, and also playing six of my all-time favourite songs. The interview is available to “Listen Again” here and the show is also repeated on Sunday 26th November between 1 and 2 pm. My next appearance on BBC Radio Norfolk is next Sunday where I will also be chatting to Keith Greentree on the Big Country Show, Sunday 3rd December from 2 pm.
Excited that I have just received these lovely new limited edition CDs of my EP “Reminders” recorded in New York with renowned Brooklyn producer and musician Jeff Hill. Thanks to Audiotree in Norwich for the artwork and design. Previously only available digitally, signed copies are available from the store page and at my Bandcamp
Something sweet! Here’s a brand new music video for “Trust” by Breeze Redwine. One for all the dog lovers out there. “Trust” is the title track from Breeze’s debut EP and I wrote this song about the very special bond between owners and their four legged friends
Had a lovely time performing two acoustic sets at Reepham Festival. Such a lovely friendly festival. On Saturday I performed in the Church and was accompanied by Jonathan Threadwell on electric guitar. I wrote about my first time playing at this lovely festival and all my other recent music news in my latest column for All Things Norfolk.
On Sunday I performed at the historic Whitwell station.
Next gig is this special celebration of Breeze Redwine’s debut EP ‘Trust’ which has been earning airplay on BBC Introducing:
Enjoyed a great day of music at the 10th Anniversary of Maverick Festival. With talented Nashville duo Chasing Summer and Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes from Melbourne.
My incredibly talented student Breeze Redwine continues to record really great original songs and has just released her debut EP ‘Trust’. I’m proud to have written the title track with her and it’s just received it’s first airplay on BBC Introducing. DJ Jay Lawrence said what a song it is and described Breeze as ‘absolutely talented beyond her years’.
Another upcoming live appearance is at Reepham Festival;
Really excited to share the brand new music video to my new single ‘When Christmas Comes Around’ which is out now. Thank you so much to French fan David Sk for creating this lovely festive video, which features my two homes Norwich and New York City, and thanks so much for watching and sharing.
“expertly performed..is a fine addition to the canon of Christmas songs” Thanks so much to Stephpar for featuring and reviewing my Christmas single at Song A Day. Such kind words. The song has just received airplay on BBC Suffolk and many other shows.
Just had a great time filming at the BBC, playing guitar for Breeze on a special acoustic festive cover. You’ll be able to see the performance on the 22nd December just before The One Show on BBC Look East and West at around 6.50pm. It was lovely being in the very festive BBC Introducing studio and thanks so much to Look East for having us.
August has been a busy month. Was at BBC Introducing with Breeze as she was interviewed about all her exciting achievements in LA and . We had a great time on the show and the guys made Breeze feel very welcome. Listen again to the interview here
I also had a lovely time playing VW Whitenoise festival and Folk East where I was joined by Noel Dashwood. It’s such a lovely festival with so much creativity going on and some much to do. Thanks to the SoapBox stage for having me and I’ve uploaded many videos to my YouTube channel.
Thanks also to Penny Black Music for an amazing review of the EP. Read it in full here
Some exciting news ~ my incredibly talented student Breeze has just returned from LA where she won many awards at the World Championships of Performing Arts, an international performing arts talent competition in Hollywood!
Among her many awards, Breeze won 4 Gold, 2 Silver and Overall Champion twice. She also won an Industry Award, meaning she is most likely to make it in the music industry.
I’m also really proud that ‘Courage’ her recent debut single that I wrote, won Best Original Song. As a songwriter, to gain recognition for your songs is the biggest thrill. Courage was also recently played on BBC Introducing so it’s all really exciting that the song is continuing to receive recognition.
I’ve also been continuing to promote ‘Another Place and Time’ which has earned more lovely reviews including from Songwriting Magazine, Outline Magazine and the respected roots singer/songwriter magazine R2 who have described it as ‘classy songwriting and a heartfelt vocal delivery.’
I recently released the second single from it called ‘Remember Me’ which has had airplay on various folk, Americana and country shows including Baylen Leonard’s The Front Porch on Amazing Radio. Here’s an acoustic unplugged version in a very cool music room:
Festival season is in full swing and I started my festival appearances by playing again at Dubs in the Hall festival in the beautiful surroundings of Holt Hall. There’s always a lovely family atmosphere there.
Another festival with a wonderful atmosphere is Latitude which was excellent as always and so much fun on a particularly sultry day and evening. Among the many exciting and eclectic bands I saw, the highlight was seeing one of my favourite bands New Order headline on the Sunday night, my legs were very tired afterwards from dancing!
In tribute I’ve done an acoustic cover of ‘Bizarre Love Triangle’
Upcoming festival appearances include another VW festival, White Noise near Thetford where I’ll be closing the Woodland stage on Sunday 7th August. White Noise is the first VM and music festival established in Norfolk over 13 years ago and is a truly independent festival that celebrates diverse live music and provides many free creative activities for children.
On August 21st I’ll then be playing on the Soapbox Stage at Folk East which is held at the picturesque Suffolk estate of Glemhall Hall. Described by The Guardian as “one of the best world music, roots and folk festivals in the UK, for 2016” Folk East is in its fifth year and among its usual exceptional headliners in the world of folk and roots is Eliza Carthy who I supported at OPEN last year. I’m really excited to be performing on The SoapBox Stage for the first time as the stage, run by creative producer Amy Wragg, an independent Music & Spoken Word promoter, is renowned for showcasing a mix of new and established artists.
