BBC Radio Norfolk music feature for Rob Butler’s show

It’s been really fun to be part of a new regular music feature for Rob Butler’s show on BBC Radio Norfolk where I’ve recorded live acoustic covers from the 80’s and beyond, as well as Britpop tracks and Pride anthems. Rob previously featured the Future Radio fundraising single ‘This Fine City’ and interviewed me about it for Norwich City fanzine show The Scrimmage. So far I have performed six brilliant songs: the classic pop of Erasure’s ‘A Little Respect’, Tom Petty’s anthemic ‘I Won’t Back Down’, ‘Slide Away” by Oasis, ‘Inbetween Days’ The Cure and most recently ‘So in Love’ by OMD. I’ve also covered ‘Jolene’ by the one and Dolly Parton and you can see a live performance on YouTube as well as hear the version on my Soundcloud page Keep listening to Rob’s show (Monday – Wednesday evenings) for my next covers challenge!

Broadcast for International Women’s Day

It was lovely to be part of a very exciting and creative broadcast being played across the U.K. for this year’s International Women’s Day. I was among 30 female artists from across the country invited to write & recorded a brand new piece in under a day to be broadcast on community radio stations around the country, including Future Radio. The full #internationalwomensday broadcast is now available to listen to online at SoundCloud – my original piece written ‘Wings to Fly’ is at 11:30 https://soundcloud.com/soundart-radio

Safe Rescue for Dogs feature for All Things Norfolk

I wrote about the IWD broadcast in one of my recent columns for All Things Norfolk. I also shared details of ‘One in the Crowd’ – acoustic charity single for Safe Rescue for Dogs – and it was lovely to receive airplay on various radio stations for the song as well as getting to talk about it and introduce it on a BBC Upload show – a show that showcases local creative talent of all kinds. Thanks also to Belles and Gals for this lovely article about the song and for having me perform recently for one of their #UKCMSA live-streams.

New Charity Song for Dog Rescue

Safe Rescue for Dogs video

Please take a moment to watch this touching video that charity Safe Rescue for Dogs have put together, giving an insight into the amazing work they do rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs from the UK and abroad.

I have written and recorded the music in the video to the words by one of the team Kelly Hare. On reading her touching and heartfelt poem I was moved to help them raise funds and awareness for all the hard work this very small team do to save dogs in dreadful conditions in the shelters.

If you would like to find out more and donate, take a look at their Facebook page. As a small charity they rely solely on the kindness and generosity of people to enable them to carry on rescuing and caring for the dogs. So lovely to see that there has been some money raised already.

I’ve also done a live acoustic performance from home on YouTube and written all about the inspiration and charity in a feature for All Things Norfolk

It was lovely to talk about the song and hear it played on BBC Radio Norfolk this week. Listen again to Rob Butler’s show here at 1.17. Also next week I’ll be part of a fun brand new music feature on his show, starting Monday with an 80’s cover.

Lisa Redford in Songwriting Magazine for their #keepsongwriting pledge

I’ve written articles and interviewed acclaimed artists for the brilliant Songwriting Magazine. I have also written a feature in the latest Winter issue. Songwriting is the UK’s only publication dedicated to writing songs. Aimed at songwriters and their fans alike, expect up-to-date music news, reviews and artist interviews as well as lots of practical, hands-on advice.

Very proud to be a part of their #keepsongwriting campaign where they are sharing tips and quotes, as well as highlighting the importance of creativity through these difficult times and championing those who have vowed not to stop creating original music in 2021.

New Single ‘I Just Can’t Forget’ More Reviews, Leaving Traces – Neal Casal Celebration

lisa-redford-i-just-cant-forget-3000px-1024x1024

I’m very excited to announce a new single release. I Just Can’t Forget – a song which has been recorded in session for Whispering Bob TV’s Under the Apple Tree and already received some lovely reviews – will be released on 15 November.

“It’s fair to say I’ve been really impressed by everything here; not just Lisa’s gorgeously expressive and honeyed voice but her clever and intricate songwriting too; with both combining best of all on my favourite track I Just Can’t Forget, which is a real class act in itself and made me stare at the speakers in wonderment the first time I heard it.” Rocking Magpie

“The beautiful, slow-burning impact of the pedal-steel coloured I Just Can’t Forget further displays Redford’s skills. Her ability to pen songs of genuine quality suggests her moment is due very soon.”RnR Magazine ****

I Just Can’t Forget and the beautifully intimate closing track Alone Tonight are simply gorgeous tearjerkers. It takes real talent to make such songs not sound overly sentimental and sappy, and Redford pulls it off with class. Like I said: that’s how I prefer my country.” Slim Chance, NL

I Just Can’t Forget is a soul-tinged song featuring Lisa’s silky voice crooning heart aching lyrics. Lush and honeyed but with an edge lurking underneath…natural and effortless, a moody slow burner that is quite irresistible.” Alan Cackett

I Just Can’t Forget is perhaps the most musically intriguing track of five here. Its sultry intro, featuring the combination of pedal steel and electric guitars, is allowed to thread beautifully through the rest of the song. Acoustic guitar and drums are gradually added, with a dual vocal harmony towards the end completing an impressive musical build.” Building Our Own Nashville

“I Just Can’t Forget is one of those songs where country meets soul, another memorable melody and what must rate as some of Lisa’s most heartfelt vocals make this a highlight on the EP. “All the times you won’t remember/I just can’t forget,” sings Lisa and anyone who has loved and lost will relate to this song. It’s another remarkable performance and is in the running as the best song so far we’ve heard from this remarkable talent.”
Penny Black Music

“The more I hear I Just Can’t Forget continue the more I fell in love with the song and Lisa’s vocal range.” Bring Country to the UK

“reflective, lonely and melancholic piece that can easily be imagined forming part of a soundtrack.” Outline Magazine

“a future classic” The Country Rock Show

“Fine artist..I recommend you check this out” Ralph McLean, BBC Radio Ulster

“That really is three minutes of musical genius.”
Wow! huge thanks to BBC Radio Merseyside for the kind words and playing “I Just Can’t Forget” alongside many major country artists. The song has also been played on this week’s BBC Introducing in Suffolk and many other radio shows.

The event is already close to selling out and is going to be a really special evening.

“fits seamlessly into a contemporary Americana/Folk sound that is commercial & radio friendly..beautifully arranged and played by an ensemble of studio players that include the multi-instrumental talents of Jose McGill..No questioning the talent of this artist..the time for Lisa Redford to reach a wider audience is well-nigh… Do check out this excellent music.” Huge thanks to LonesomeHighway.com in Dublin for this lovely review of “Edge of Love” and also for the airplay on this week’s Lonesome Highway show

Brilliant.” Belles and Gals

“classic heartbreak and sparkling pop..the pretty much perfect pop-rock of “Let Go,” it’s Redford’s expressively versatile and engaging voice that adds the gilt edge. Her ability to pen songs of genuine quality..suggests that her moment is due very soon.” RnR Magazine ****

“quality, classy pop music with substance that will no doubt sound as fresh and relevant in a decade as they sound today…a timely reminder that she is one of our most talented songwriters..” Penny Black Music. Full review here

“who knew that five tracks could vary so much in style and still feel so connected. This EP has the impact of an album because of it’s versatility and charm. When it comes to the Edge of Love EP, It’s a little bit Country, a little bit Folk, a little bit Pop and a whole lot of heartfelt soul! The Edge of Love EP kept me interested from start to finished with it’s charm. The Music Below Full review here

“A quite superior EP, that has had to fight against the odds to even be heard, and is well worthy of your attention.” W21 Music  Read full review here

“Edge of Love” is catchy and harmoniously rich. Combining all that is so adored about Americana, country and melodic pop, Lisa Redford is a gifted artist and shows off her talents through her emotional depictions of love and loss in each track. Her expressions sound heartfelt and pure..Redford gives her all into this EP and that remains very clear throughout.” Maverick Magazine ****
