'one of our finest singer/songwriters' Bob Harris. Acoustic, Americana. Vocal coach, guitar/ ukulele tutor. Music columnist Evening News/Songwriting Magazine. DJ at Future Radio
Please take a moment to watch this touching video that charity Safe Rescue for Dogs have put together, giving an insight into the amazing work they do rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming dogs from the UK and abroad.
I have written and recorded the music in the video to the words by one of the team Kelly Hare. On reading her touching and heartfelt poem I was moved to help them raise funds and awareness for all the hard work this very small team do to save dogs in dreadful conditions in the shelters.
If you would like to find out more and donate, take a look at their Facebook page. As a small charity they rely solely on the kindness and generosity of people to enable them to carry on rescuing and caring for the dogs. So lovely to see that there has been some money raised already.
I’ve also done a live acoustic performance from home on YouTube and written all about the inspiration and charity in a feature for All Things Norfolk
It was lovely to talk about the song and hear it played on BBC Radio Norfolk this week. Listen again to Rob Butler’s show here at 1.17. Also next week I’ll be part of a fun brand new music feature on his show, starting Monday with an 80’s cover.
Lisa Redford in Songwriting Magazine for their #keepsongwriting pledge
I’ve written articles and interviewed acclaimed artists for the brilliant Songwriting Magazine. I have also written a feature in the latest Winter issue. Songwriting is the UK’s only publication dedicated to writing songs. Aimed at songwriters and their fans alike, expect up-to-date music news, reviews and artist interviews as well as lots of practical, hands-on advice.
Very proud to be a part of their #keepsongwriting campaign where they are sharing tips and quotes, as well as highlighting the importance of creativity through these difficult times and championing those who have vowed not to stop creating original music in 2021.

Recording for the new EP has continued and it’s been really productive and exciting. As mentioned, I am working with the super talented musician and producer José McGill – band-leader of the award-winning Vagaband – who has created some beautiful arrangements and contributed his huge music talent on an array of instruments.
I can’t wait for you to hear the new material. As well as the musicians already mentioned, there is some wonderful pedal steel from Alan Cook – who I recorded my latest Bob Harris “Under the Apple Tree” session with – and also beautiful cello from award-winning cellist Ivan McCready.

I also love to write about music and here is my latest article for All Things Norfolk – a local arts and music website. Here I talk more about the process of recording and the amazing talented musicians involved as well as previewing upcoming gigs and reviewing short films at Norwich Film Festival:
It’s been a really productive time this past month as I’ve been in the studio recording some songs which I can’t wait to share with you! I’ve recorded a few songs with Jose McGill who is the singer and guitarist of renowned band The Vagaband and he has been adding some lovely subtle instrumentation. Noel Dashwood, who recently performed with me at OPEN when we supported Eliza Carthy, has also contributed his wonderful dobro as well as ukulele, harmonies and harmonica. The mixes are already sounded great and I’ve posted some little video clips from the studio on my Instagram
Also I’ve been writing my music column for the Evening News. All my music activities plus previewing great gigs and live music.
It’s that time again! My Christmas single ‘St Benedict’s Christmas Fair’ is available on iTunes and Bandcamp ~ here’s a new live video, performing the song unplugged.
Check out this live video from a session on NY Radio Show, brand new song ‘Dreaming in Crowds’. Also just had a GREAT 2 days’ recording in Brooklyn adding cello, double bass, brushes, percussion, keyboards and piano. I’ve now finished 4 new songs with the incredibly talented Jeff Hill. Jeff has worked with two of my favourite songwriters Neal Casal and Teddy Thompson and is in one of my favourite bands Hazy Malaze. He has also worked with Rufus Wainwright, Regina Spektor and is also currently recording Erin Mckeown. As well as my acoustic style, we have added some cello, double bass, brushes, percussion, keyboards and beautiful piano. As mentioned before, I have also recorded some new songs with the equally talented drummer and dear friend Dan Fadel, also in Hazy Malaze. I’m so excited about these new songs and can’t wait to share them with you!
Really fun day in NJ studio yesterday..recorded a new song with the amazing drummer and dear friend Dan Fadel from Hazy Malaze, it’s so rocking I didn’t even notice the earthquake!
More information about the new recordings is at the news page.
