“Anything But Easy” Single Out 22nd February ~ Airplay, Reviews

Really excited to announce that “Anything But Easy” – the first single from my upcoming EP “Edge of Love” – will be released on 22nd February. I have been so happy with the response so far and all the airplay the single has already received. Thanks to all the radio shows that have play listed the track including Leader’s American Pie, Wrecking Ball Radio, Russ Hill Country, Acoustic Routes, Mystery Rain, The Hoedown, Country Rock Radio and Simply Country, who have made the song Track of the Month.
Produced by the brilliant Jose McGill from The Vagaband and featuring the wonderful dobro from Noel Dashwood of Alden, Patterson and Dashwood it’s mastered by Mikey Shaw Recording/Mix Engineer & Dub Cavern Productions at The Crunch – Recording Studio

Wishing you all a very happy 2019! I’m overwhelmed by the continued support and pledges for the upcoming EP – which is going to be titled “Edge of Love” – it looks set to be a very exciting year!

Here’s a little teaser for the first single “Anything But Easy” coming soon. Produced by José McGill from The Vagaband & featuring a host of the finest musicians.

My interview with the brilliant award-winning Ethan Johns features in the latest edition of Songwriting Magazine It was lovely to talk Americana, music, writing and producing at his superb October gig at Norwich Arts Centre. He had wonderful insights about working with Ryan Adams, Ray LaMontagne and Laura Marling plus talked about upcoming projects with Robert Vincent and William The Conqueror.

Wow, my PledgeMusic goal has been reached!  I’m so grateful for the support – it really does mean such a lot. I had initially been nervous to embark on my very first PledgeMusic crowdfunding project but the continued support and enthusiasm has surpassed all expectations.I have also just received the mastered tracks from the brilliant Crunch Recording Studio and can’t wait to share the songs with you soon!In the meantime, if you visit my SoundCloud page you can hear a live acoustic cover of Jason Isbell’s lovely song “Maybe It’s Time” from “A Star is Born”. Recording for the new EP has continued and it’s been really productive and exciting. As mentioned, I am working with the super talented musician and producer José McGill – band-leader of the award-winning Vagaband – who has created some beautiful arrangements and contributed his huge music talent on an array of instruments.

I can’t wait for you to hear the new material. As well as the musicians already mentioned, there is some wonderful pedal steel from Alan Cook – who I recorded my latest Bob Harris “Under the Apple Tree” session with – and also beautiful cello from award-winning cellist Ivan McCready.

Enjoyed an amazing gig recently at Norwich Arts Centre – Ethan Johns and The Black Eyed Dogs. It was so lovely – and a real treat – to also interview Ethan for Songwriting Magazine. He has been a real music hero having produced some of my favourite records including “Heartbreaker” and “Gold” by Ryan Adams. It was also great to catch up with the band’s fabulous Georgina Leach who played on my album “Lost Again” back in the day – her first album session recording! Look out for my interview with Ethan appearing in Songwriting Magazine soon.

So excited to announce a London gig! Playing the lovely award-winning Green Note for my dear friends Black Cat Music Promotions Limited on 4 December as special guest for the brilliant No Coward Soul. Hope to see some London buddies! x

Such a great day at the always welcoming Deepdale Festival in beautiful North Norfolk. Thanks to photographer Jon Clifton for some really great shots. Norfolk Day Video, Lovely Latitude

Very excited to share this! Here is the brand new beautiful video from my incredible student Breeze Redwine. Especially filmed for #NorfolkDay and showcasing the glorious countryside of the county, it has already had a wonderful response and also been selected as the official song for the occasion! The track is “Trust” – an original song written by myself and Breeze. Norfolk Day is Friday, 27th July 2018 and everyone involved in the video is from Norfolk:

It’s been a very busy Summer already! I had so much fun performing a special acoustic concert in beautiful Pézenas, South of France with superb guitarist Luigi Notarangelo.

Just this past weekend I enjoyed a beautiful sultry night playing Stradisphere Music Festival and it was lovely to meet the brilliant Mercury Music Prize winning Badly Drawn Boy ahead of his excellent headline set.

The day after, I had a great time at Maverick Festival seeing some memorable performances and soaking up the always warm, friendly atmosphere. I also had a lot of fun performing on the Jimmy Rodgers stage. Huge thanks to James Hodder and Tin Can Review for a lovely afternoon of live music.

One of my favourite acts of the weekend were Australia’s Lachlan Bryan and The Wildes – who I also saw perform last year – and I recently interviewed Lachlan for Songwriting Magazine ahead of their UK tour. It was great to catch up with them and also wonderful singer songwriter Imogen Clark. Here is us after their wonderful set in The Barn:
