Lyrics for Lost Again Lost Again Always had to run Trying to be someone That I was not for far too long Never saw a change Everyday the same And I was waiting for the pain to fade Wish those clouds were lifting now Then I wouldn’t feel so down And for so long now I was only waiting for those feelings to return to me again And for so long now I was only hoping for a sign but now it’s here I find – I’m Lost Again Was happy just to be Giving up on dreams Just wasting time haunting same old streets I had it figured out What life was all about But I was scared to feel something Wish those clouds were lifting now And the sun was bursting out And for so long now I was only waiting for those feelings to return to me again And for so long now I was only hoping for a sign but now it’s here I find – I’m Lost Again Now I’m living for each day Got no need to ever hide myself away And for so long now I was only waiting for those feelings to return to me again And for so long now I was only hoping for a sign but now it’s here I find – I’m Lost Again I’m Lost Again © Lisa Redford 2005 Dragonfly Never travelled down this way before Flying through the dusty streets Could be on the road to anywhere Cares are gone, the mind’s at peace And my friends are here beside me now Sweet contentment’s deep inside We don’t even need to say a word Just remember this for life See the dragonfly in the twilight sky, music fills the air And the heat it lingers on And the children play as the daylight fades, clouds are all in gold Watch the colours til they’re gone And the only thing that stops me feeling lonely Is when I think about those days And the only thing that stops me feeling lonely Is when I think about those days And if you ever get this feeling Don’t let it pass you by It’s like a stirring that’s inside your soul A simple moment lost in time See the dragonfly in the twilight sky, music fills the air In my heart it will remain We were singing loud, under golden cloud, mind’s without a care Not just another day And the only thing that stops me feeling lonely Is when I think about those days And the only thing that stops me feeling lonely Is when I think about those days Those days, when I think about those days Those days, when I think about those days © Lisa Redford 2005 Wildfire There’s no turning back, just letting go Say goodbye to this life we know Turn out the lights, turn the key Lets chase the moon before it slips away No doubting in our minds No more running blind Out of control like a Wildfire burning We’re out on our own tonight Nobody knows, it’s like the world’s stopped turning Cos tonight it’s in our eyes – Wildfire Follow the stars, there’s cloud overhead Take more than rain to stop us now I catch my breath, I cling onto you Feel so afraid but it feels so good No doubting in our minds We’re gonna touch the sky Out of control like a Wildfire burning We’re out on our own tonight Nobody knows it’s like the world’s stopped turning Cos tonight it’s in our eyes – Wildfire Tonight it’s in our eyes – Wildfire There’s no doubting in our minds Cos tonight it’s in our eyes, tonight it’s in our eyes Out of control like a wildfire burning We’re out on our own tonight Nobody knows, it’s like the world’s stopped turning Cos tonight it’s in our eyes, tonight it’s in my eyes, tonight it’s in your eyes – Wildfire Oh Wildfire © Lisa Redford 2005 Universe Pictures from a different time Lie around me in the failing light And turn my thoughts to you and me again Memories are fading now They’re drifting out of sight To bring them back to me you know I’d search The Universe, the universe Close my eyes and feel you near Something tells me you’re still here The feeling never seems to last for long No more alone, so safe with you You took away my fear To bring you back to me you know I’d search The Universe, the universe I never want to say goodbye I never meant to leave your side Turn around and walk away Try and fight another day I can’t believe that you could leave me here If I could see your face again If there was a way To bring you back to me you know I’d search Across the Universe, the universe…. © Lisa Redford 2005 Love You Anyway Caught in a moment Frozen in time And I don’t remember How we said goodbye And I know you’re leaving It’s hurting inside So much unspoken Feelings I hide So if you think that there is something here Let’s not throw it away There’s just so much I want to say And even though it’s not the right time I’m still going out of my mind And though I know I can’t make you stay I love you anyway If I never met you Would I be the same There’s just something about you It won’t go away So if you think that there is something here Let’s not throw it away There’s just so much I need to say And even though it’s not the right time I’m still going out of my mind And though I know I can’t make you stay I love you anyway There’s just so much that we could do Not gonna stop thinking of you Just let me know And even though it’s not the right time I’m still going out of my mind And though I know I can’t make you stay I love you anyway… © Lisa Redford 2005 When You Go Never felt the sunshine til you took my hand Never had such feelings now I understand You’re chasing your dreams but I’m losing mine Cos you’re taking flight, into the night, without goodbye And when you go, you leave me lonely How will I know, you love me only It’s funny how, we don’t say what we feel Til it’s too late, it’s too late It is all so easy when you’re here with me All the fears are gone til the time you leave Getting tired of promises that you can’t keep Now you’re far away, nothing more to say or do And when you go, you leave me lonely How will I know, you love me only It’s funny how we don’t say what we feel Til it’s too late, it’s too late It’s too late, it’s too late It’s too late, it’s too late © Lisa Redford 2005 You Will Know Like the sweetest dream When you came to me that night Ran a thousand miles Just to see you smiling bright And when you feel the way I do, you’ll know, you will know Now I close my eyes Try to memorise those words That you said to me Now a memory that hurts And when you feel a love so true, you’ll know, you will know And when love comes around You find you won’t come down Cos when your world is torn in two, you’ll know, you will know Hard to face the day Now you’re far away from me Love had robbed me blind You broke this heart of me I see And when you lose the love you knew, you’ll know, you will know You will know… © Lisa Redford 2005 The way it goes We had some good times and some bad times too You know I lost it all when I lost you Wasting too much of my time away I can’t stand another day You know the way it goes sometimes You know the way it goes sometimes And now I feel so very far from home Losing my way cos I miss you so I’ve got to get away, it calls my name Cos I know it won’t ever be the same You know the way it goes You know the way it goes I’ve got to get away, it’s just no good You know I’d change it all if I could Now you know how many tears I’ve cried There’s nothing more I have to hide And you know And You know You know the way it goes sometimes You know I’ll try to get by this time You know the way it goes sometimes You know the way it goes sometimes Sometimes, sometimes… © Lisa Redford 2005 Just Getting By Sometimes you find it hard Takes all your strength in just getting by I feel I’m drifting far You’re all I see no matter what I do Seems like a lifetime ago Already there’s so much I want to tell you And how my life has changed But still you’re here no matter where I go You’re smiling through the tears Think you know your life was precious Wish we had our time again You’re all I see no matter what I do Sometimes you find it hard Takes all your strength in just getting by © Lisa Redford 2005 Why Always working Always searching Never finding what you’re looking for Always waiting Always hoping Never minding, but you’re wanting more And you never seem to have the time And I’m losing what I thought was mine And they always have to be so kind oh why, oh why Always fighting Always smiling Now I’m tired of the radio Always learning Always hurting Deep inside but you won’t let it show And it always has to take so long And you never feel like you belong And you always have to be so strong oh why Always faking Time is wasting Bodies’ aching, oh why And you never seem to have the time And I’m losing what I thought was mine And they always have to be so kind oh why Oh oh oh oh oh…oh why Oh Why © Lisa Redford 2005 Mountain Hideaway My mountain hideaway Is where I hold you close Don’t mind the summer rain that’s falling My mountain hideaway Is where I see you most And my November heart is melting And the people I meet don’t mean a thing You’re the only one that I will see Want to hold this night so it will never end Oh Oh Oh Oh My mountain hideaway Is where the feelings grow And now I’m frightened by the way I feel My mountain hideaway Is where I’ll always know That there is just no getting over you And the things that I do won’t mean a thing Oh oh you’re the only one I need
Oh oh I want to hold these thoughts forever © Lisa Redford 2005 Click here to view the lyrics for Slipstream Changing Times Bonus track on Lost Again – The Acoustic Sessions 2007
Staring into space I wonder where you are You’re always with me but you seem so far But you know that I’d be lost without you And everything you do Through changing times you always stay the same When the rain starts to fall When the sun it shines When the seasons come and go On these changing times, changing times Living our lives day to day we never notice how time slips away Our good friends they come and go But there’s one thing I know You will be there to guide me In everything I do Through changing times you always stay the same When the rain starts to fall When the sun it shines When the seasons come and go On these changing times No reason to change a thing Oh oh I won’t let you go No never let you go May you always stay the same When the rain starts to fall When the sun it shines When the seasons come and go On these changing times Oh oh oh Changing times © Lisa Redford 2003 |

Lost Again press release

Lisa Redford ‘Lost Again’ PR 11405 July 2005 Lisa Redford Releases Lost Again ‘A lovely songwriter with a great voice’ Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2 Singer-songwriter Lisa Redford releases LOST AGAIN, her eagerly awaited second album. Through eleven finely craftd self-written songs, LOST AGAIN takes her blend of exquisitely melodic country pop to another level. Her stunning voice, acoustic guitar and reflective lyrics are enriched by increased instrumentation and beautiful arrangements. Ranging from the upbeat radio friendly title track, the aching ballad When You Go, the Drake tinged Dragonfly, through to the epic sound of the yearning Universe, the album showcases the depth of her song writing talent and makes this a truly compelling listen. Recorded at Manchester’s Airtight, where the likes of KT Tunstall, Micah P Hinson and The Earlies have recorded, the album’s producer is Gabriel Minnikin, a former member of the acclaimed Canadian alt/country band, The Guthries. An incredible musician, Minnikin has also contributed much of the instrumentation, with guitars, banjo, mandolin, accordian, harmonica, pump organ, hammond and theremin. Alan Cook, who has recorded and played with Jackie Leven and Michael Weston King, plays pedal steel, lap steel and dobro. Other immensely talented musicians provide piano, Wurlitzer, clarinet and strings. All this combines to create a lush musical setting. Closing the album is Lisa’s version of Fell on Hard Times by American singer-songwriter Neal Casal, one of Lisa’s biggest inspirations and favourite songwriters. Recorded live in the studio with just her voice and guitar, it captures the raw heartfelt emotion of Lisa’s live performance. Lisa’s debut album, the self-financed, self-produced SLIPSTREAM, was released in November 2003 and gained widespread glowing print reviews and received airplay on radio stations around the world. Lisa is also building a reputation as a compelling live performer and, along with many festival appearances, has opened for respected artists including Kathryn Williams, Kate Campbell, Laura Veirs, Jesse Sykes, The Handsome Family, The Deadstring Brothers, The Hot Club of Cowtown, Boo Hewerdine and The Arlenes. On LOST AGAIN, Redford dramatically fulfils the promise of her debut album with her arresting vocals, refreshing sound and inventive well-written songs. “These songs are very personal to me,” says Redford. “Being lost is very much the theme running through the album. This can be in a positive sense or with a feeling of sadness, reflecting on loss.” Already in 2005 she has toured Europe and played at the prestigious Borderline singer-songwriter festival in London. With the release of LOST AGAIN, further testament to her talent, Redford’s music is set to gain her an even bigger audience. Lost Again is available to order from Fish Records www.fishrecords.co.uk |

New To You – Lisa Redford Every so often a CD by an totally new, unknown artist comes along and just knocks you sideways. That happened for me last year when SLIPSTREAM, the debut album by Norwich-based singer-songwriter Lisa Redford, landed in my CD player. The album had a refreshing sound, inventive, well-written songs and a female singer who knew her way around a lyric, enticing the listener with her simple, but highly effective turns of phrase. With a first album that good, it was plainly obvious that Lisa was no wet-behind-the-ears teen babe. In her mid-twenties, the talkative singer-songwriter has been around for several years, learning the ropes, building a following and maturing nicely. “Well first it started as an acoustic duo…we started off, really just playing songs we love, acoustic songs, classic songs from songwriters that we liked. Playing locally in Norwich, Norfolk and Cambridge, and when we played it got a great response instantly and people started booking us.” But the seeds for a musical career had been planted much earlier in Lisa’s life. From a young age she was obsessed with listening to all kinds of music. “It was the classic singer-songwriters of the seventies that initially really inspired me; artists like Neil Young, Carole King, James Taylor and Joni Mitchell. I really got into country and Americana a few years ago. It was the emotion and the melodies that I was really drawn to. Neal Casal is one of my favourite singer-songwriters.” The songwriting also began at an early age, in fact when she was barely into her teens. “I had a knack for coming up with melodies and I still find melody easier. For a while I questioned my ability to write, thought I had to be really esoteric and clever, but the response I have had has been great. In particular a song like Red Eyes, I have had so many people tell me after gigs that they really love the song and it really touched them that it makes me realise I do have a talent for writing.” Lisa knew that to play more gigs and gain a growing reputation she needed to have an album. By this time she had accumulated a large collection of self-written songs, which made it diffficult to choose which ones to record. “When I was recording the album, because I wasn’t doing it for a major label, I felt no pressure. I just wanted to make an album on my own terms, one that I was really proud of. I definitely had a particular feel in mind, very organic and acoustic. Just a collection of really great songs, something that I would like to listen to.” She assembled a talented group of really gifted musicians to record with. Pianist Chris Ellis, who is also a songwriter, and guitarist Pete Lee, who came up with some wonderful riffs and slide work that perfectly suited the songs. Because of the constraints of time and money in self-financing, a lot of the guitar and vocal parts were recorded live with barely any overdubbing. The title song, a would-be country-rock classic comes very much from Lisa’s heart and soul. “That song is about me reaching for my dreams, I have to make sure I ‘don’t get caught in the slipstream,’ and have to reach out on my own. In a way it’s a statement for the whole album, making the record by myself and doing it all on my own terms.” SLIPSTREAM is an album any artist can justifiably be proud of. It’s not only gained widespread glowing print reviews, but also picked up national and regional radio plays. “On your own you can just literally be dedicated and get out there yourself and do a lot of things for yourself especially in the gigs and financing the album. I mean, I have the drive, I’m writing more and I’m eager to make a new solo album as soon as the money allows. I have a collection of brand new songs so I can’t wait to get started.” Alan Cackett |

Lyrics for Clouds with Silver Come Back Down You’ve been waiting For something that you’ll never find again In everything you do, you know it’s up to you to make it work, this time So much sorrow, you’ve set your sights too high once again When you were standing tall, you know you’re bound to fall and that’s a fact You’ve been holding On for too long Lost all reason in your mind All the feelings Lose their meaning Don’t you think now that it’s time You come back down again You come back down again They’ve been saying, ‘don’t you think it’s time that you’ve moved on’ You’ve been holding On for too long Lost all reason in your mind All the feelings Lose their meaning Don’t you think now that it’s time You come back down again You come back down again Come back down again To where you were before You’ll be fine and then Find what you’re looking for Oh oh oh You’ve been holding On for too long Lost all reason in your mind All the feelings Lose their meaning Don’t you think now that it’s time You come back down again You come back down again You come back down again You come back down again… © Lisa Redford 2008 NY Song Been walking these streets, been heading downtown Been full of regrets, too late for them now And though I may say I’m alright, from time to time Still hiding the pain I’ve been feeling inside I’m here on my own Alone in the night Know that I’ve grown And I’ll be alright I’ll never know why it went wrong I’ll just keep singing my new york song Stopping at Steinway, meeting my friends Too late to go back home, to make amends I know that I’ll miss you sometimes, in my mind I’m trying to get lost in this perfect sky I’m here on my own Alone in the night Know that I’ve grown And I’ll be alright Will never know why things went wrong I’ll just keep singing my new york song I know that I changed Go back if I could Words on the line were misunderstood Finding a place where I belong For now I’m singing my new york song Doesn’t matter where I go Doesn’t matter what I do And though I may say I’m alright from time to time Still hiding the pain I’ve been feeling inside I’m here on my own Alone in the night Know that I’ve grown And I’ll be alright Will never know why things went wrong I’ll just keep singing my new york song I know that I changed Go back if I could Words on the line were misunderstood Finding a place where I belong For now I’m singing my new york song © Lisa Redford 2008 Call Me Do you wish there are things that you could change? Couldn’t find it in your heart to feel the same The light is fading now behind the trees It’s when a loneliness drifts over me Are you on your own tonight then call me Are you on your own tonight then call me Are you on your own tonight then call me Then call me I know it doesn’t mean that we’re in love But just your touch tonight would be enough Don’t wanna talk about the past And all the things that never last Are you on your own tonight then call me Are you on your own tonight then call me Are you on your own tonight then call me Then call me tonight Then call me.tonight.. © Lisa Redford 2008 Makes Your Heart Sing I s there someone that you long for Now that someone isn’t me Got to try and stop believing If it wasn’t meant to be And I’m trying so very hard to be so very strong Is there someone that you’re holding When the night falls, keeps you warm Is there something that you’re hiding Deep inside you, keeps you safe from harm And I know it’s been so long but time don’t mean a thing When you’ve lost that one who makes your heart sing Do you listen to the same shows that we used to on the radio And I hope I’ll be alright Now that love has gone Then I’ll find the one who makes me heart sing And I wish you all the love in the world, for all time And I’ll miss all of those days more than I did when you were mine Never Was a Yesterday Yeah ok, I will act like we never met Yeah ok, I will try hard to forget Yeah ok, we don’t have to talk about it now Yeah ok, cos I’ll be moving on somehow Like there never was a yesterday Like there never was a smile upon your face Like there never was a yesterday Like there never was a heart that had to break Like there never was a yesterday Like there never was a price we had to pay Like there never was Like there never was Like there never was a yesterday Yeah ok, I will act like you never cared Yeah ok, there were dreams that we never shared Yeah ok, I just find it hard to let it go But ok cos I guess that you’ll never know Like there never was a yesterday Like there never was a smile upon your face Like there never was a yesterday Like there never was a heart that had to break Like there never was a yesterday Like there never was a price we had to pay Like there never was Something real, something true That felt so right I guess all the time, I’d been living life Like there never was Goodbye Goodbye Goodbye Oh Like there never was a yesterday Like there never was a smile upon your face Like there never was a yesterday Like there never was a heart that had to break Like there never was a yesterday Like there never was a price we had to pay Like there never was a yesterday… © Lisa Redford 2008 When You Come Home You followed a path You travelled the world Losing sight of who you were You did as you please Although you were ‘owned’ Dismissing those who cared the most But you forgot that luck can turn You forgot all those you hurt When you come home what will you do When you come home, when you come home Consumed in a world That just didn’t care Illusions fade and dreams can disappear And there were so many you left behind Now it’s too late to try and put it right You forgot that looks can fade You forgot the plans we made When you come home what will you do When you come home, when you come home You forgot about your peace of mind Now there’s nothing left, nothing more you can hide behind When you come home You forgot that luck can turn You forgot all those you hurt When you come home what will you do Now that your friends are gone there’s noone you’re talking to And when you cry noone will hear Now there’s nowhere to turn and you’re left standing here When you come home, when you come home When you come home, when you come home © Lisa Redford 2008 Live Your Life You hold onto something Though you know it’s not right Before you know it, forever’s flown by And scared of the future And all that it brings You tiptoe through life and lose everything But nothing is as it seems Live your life Don’t ever choose to hide Don’t let nothing stand in your way But take your time All that you long to find Could be out there and be yours someday Promises broken You take thing to heart You want to move on but don’t know how to start Failure is nothing new And don’t you care We all know life’s unfair Sometimes, but just let it go And don’t you cry Or let your life pass by Too fast, it’s all you have Live your life Don’t ever choose to hide Don’t let nothing stand in your way And don’t you care We all know life’s unfair Sometimes but just let it go That I hear, when noone’s around It’s a world I left behind It’s the peace I cannot find It’s the words I couldn’t say Can’t believe it turned this way There’s a light you’ll never see Now you don’t have the time for me I know it all takes time To let go of what was mine And now it seems to me I’ll always be, here alone Here alone It’s the fear inside of me Takes my soul and never leaves There’s a wound that doesn’t heal From a touch I cannot feel I know it all takes time To let go of what was mine And now it seems to me I’ll always be, here alone I’ll always be, here alone Here alone Here alone © Lisa Redford 2008 The Boy Who… He ain’t nobody special Passes slowly by He’s just the boy who broke my heart Just the one who tore it apart Just the one I thought I’d be loving for life He’s the just the boy I see at night When I lay down and close my eyes Just the boy who broke my Boy who broke my heart Every night is the same dream And I can still see his face Lost in the eyes that were searching mine A love I can’t replace It’s a love I can’t replace He’s just the boy who broke my heart Just the one who tore it apart Just the one I thought I’d be loving for life He’s the just the boy I see at night When I lay down and close my eyes Just the boy who broke my Boy who broke my heart Wake up every morning to the sound of his voice oh He’s just the boy who broke my heart Just the one who tore it apart Just the one I thought I’d be loving for life He’s the just the one I see every night When I lay down and close my eyes Just the boy who broke my Boy who broke my heart Oh oh oh oh He ain’t nobody special New Years Day You walk on winter’s frozen ground The trees are bare, a storm surrounds Thrown away all that you had See the frost on mistletoe, The burning embers watch them go Believe that good comes out of bad And don’t you feel sad And chase the demons from your mind You can leave them all behind You don’t have to feel this way Just believe you will be fine Take my hand on New Years Day and say – you’re gonna change And so another year has passed These hollow feelings will not last Give them up now you should try Pain is something you don’t need Lose yourself in errant dreams Close the wounds and leave to dry Cos you can’t turn back time And chase the demons from your mind You can leave them all behind You don’t have to feel this way Just believe you will be fine Take my hand on New Years Day and say – you’re gonna change Pull away the layers, see what lies within You can try and reinvent, be somebody new Don’t waste your time, on answers you can’t find…. And chase the demons from your mind You can leave them all behind You don’t have to feel this way Just believe you will be fine Take my hand on New Years Day and say It’s New Years Day just say – you’re gonna change
You’re gonna change Time to Grow She said, I need time to grow And this, this is all I know I’ve been racing through the alleys Racing through the fields in my mind This is all that I have done today, but it’s enough She said, life isn’t all I planned Sometimes life is out of your hands We’re all racing through the alleys Racing through the fields in our mind This is all that we can do today, but it’s enough But it’s enough… © Lisa Redford 2008 For the lyrics to Lost Again click here |
Swedish review
Artist: Lisa Redford Title: Slipstream Label: Own label/ Fish rec. By: Marcus Thell
5 hats (5 hats is the best you can get)
This is Lisa Redford´s (from England) first release from 2003. She is a singer-songwriter who has recorded this CD in Norwich. She has gotten a lot of positive words from critics in the UK and I can see why. Lisa has a good voice and the songs are very good singer-songwriter songs. The only artist I can find some resemblence to is Mary Lou Lord. I haven’t heard of any of the British musicians before, but they do a perfect job with Lisa´s styleful music. This has 12 songs, all written by Redford…the following songs stand out among the rest. “Turn Away”, “Don´t Tell Me”, “Slipstream”, “Carolina Rain”, “Lot Of Love”, “Hope Never Dies” and “Hand To Hold”. An excellent debut-CD from an interesting Brittish artist. I long to hear her next release. If you haven´t heard her, then do! The first step is to visit her website at www.lisaredford.com
