Lisa Redford Releases Lost Again

‘A lovely songwriter with a great voice’ Bob Harris, BBC Radio 2

Singer-songwriter Lisa Redford releases LOST AGAIN, her eagerly awaited second album. Through eleven finely craftd self-written songs, LOST AGAIN takes her blend of exquisitely melodic country pop to another level. Her stunning voice, acoustic guitar and reflective lyrics are enriched by increased instrumentation and beautiful arrangements. Ranging from the upbeat radio friendly title track, the aching ballad When You Go, the Drake tinged Dragonfly, through to the epic sound of the yearning Universe, the album showcases the depth of her song writing talent and makes this a truly compelling listen.

Recorded at Manchester’s Airtight, where the likes of KT Tunstall, Micah P Hinson and The Earlies have recorded, the album’s producer is Gabriel Minnikin, a former member of the acclaimed Canadian alt/country band, The Guthries. An incredible musician, Minnikin has also contributed much of the instrumentation, with guitars, banjo, mandolin, accordian, harmonica, pump organ, hammond and theremin. Alan Cook, who has recorded and played with Jackie Leven and Michael Weston King, plays pedal steel, lap steel and dobro. Other immensely talented musicians provide piano, Wurlitzer, clarinet and strings. All this combines to create a lush musical setting. Closing the album is Lisa’s version of Fell on Hard Times by American singer-songwriter Neal Casal, one of Lisa’s biggest inspirations and favourite songwriters. Recorded live in the studio with just her voice and guitar, it captures the raw heartfelt emotion of Lisa’s live performance.

Lisa’s debut album, the self-financed, self-produced SLIPSTREAM, was released in November 2003 and gained widespread glowing print reviews and received airplay on radio stations around the world. Lisa is also building a reputation as a compelling live performer and, along with many festival appearances, has opened for respected artists including Kathryn Williams, Kate Campbell, Laura Veirs, Jesse Sykes, The Handsome Family, The Deadstring Brothers, The Hot Club of Cowtown, Boo Hewerdine and The Arlenes.

On LOST AGAIN, Redford dramatically fulfils the promise of her debut album with her arresting vocals, refreshing sound and inventive well-written songs. “These songs are very personal to me,” says Redford. “Being lost is very much the theme running through the album. This can be in a positive sense or with a feeling of sadness, reflecting on loss.” Already in 2005 she has toured Europe and played at the prestigious Borderline singer-songwriter festival in London. With the release of LOST AGAIN, further testament to her talent, Redford’s music is set to gain her an even bigger audience.
