Alongside features on Bryan Adams and Seasick Steve, Lisa discusses her songwriting, playing, love of acoustic guitars and tips on being an independent artist. Artist to watch 2008 at Acoustic Café Acoustic Café, radio’s best international showcase for acoustic music, has made Lisa their latest G Base/One To Watch Artist for ’08. The show is syndicated to more than 75 Commercial and Noncommercial radio stations across the US. Aired the week 15/12/08-22/12/08 the track ‘Here Alone’ was played next to respected songwriters such as Rodney Crowell, Ray LaMontagne, Randy Newman, Loudon Wainwright III, Ani Difranco and Mary Chapin Carpenter. Clouds with Silver has just received more excellent reviews, 4 stars in national UK magazine, Rock ‘n’ Reel, 8 out of 10 at Americana UK and also look out for the Dec issue of Maverick magazine where there is a two page feature and interview. October – ‘Here Alone’ played on Bob Harris’s Radio 2 Show and Glowing Press There was even more airplay for the album when Bob Harris played ‘Here Alone’ on his October 4th and described Lisa as one of the show’s ‘absolute favourites’. There have also been more glowing press reviews including the latest Autumn/Winter issue of Propergranda magazine and November’s Country Music People Magazine (4 stars). BBC Norfolk Introducing are also going to feature one of the new album tracks, the upbeat Americana track ‘When You Come Home’, as the BBC Norfolk Introducing track of the week from Saturday August 9. It will then be played across BBC Radio Norfolk’s daytime output for seven days. The station are also going to be running a report (using an interview I did with them earlier) on BBC Norfolk Introducing Friday August 15 7-8pm. July – Brand New album ‘Clouds with Silver’ Lisa’s third album ‘Clouds with Silver’ will be out through Proper Distribution mid September and and it has already gained a glowing review at Fish Records where it is also available. Featuring 11 songs all written and performed by Lisa, most of the album was recorded in New York City and co-produced with talented and respected multi-instrumentalist and producer Brad Albetta (Martha Wainwright, Teddy Thompson). July 7th – Lisa on Alive with Clive TV show Alive with Clive TV appearance. Lisa was recently interviewed and played live on Alive With Clive, a show promoting positivity and making the world a better place. For those in the White Plains area of New York, the appearance is on July 7th. Clive will be releasing a compilation CD featuring artists that have appeared on his program with proceeds going towards the fight against AIDS in South Africa, his hometown. From Lisa’s blog in the Slipstream newsletter…Just back in the UK after my wonderful and productive time in New York. My gig at the Living Room went so well, a really good and full audience (thanks to those of you who came out), I had a cool photo shoot, did a cable TV interview and show and my new recording in Brooklyn is done! Am so happy with how it’s sounding and feel so excited about this new record. Although it is mostly me and my acoustic, I mostly played live too, I have some amazing players on there too. More details on it here soon! May 08 – Dragonfly featured in cool indie movie Dragonfly features in new short indie movie ‘Seized’ filmed in LA. It has just done really well at a film festival there and is going to be pitched to the BBC too. More Radio 2 Airplay Oct 07 Lisa was played again on BBC Radio 2 Bob Harris’s Show. Steve Lamacq played one of her live favourites ‘Wildfire’ from ‘Lost Again’ and said that Bob regarded her as one of the UK’s finest singer-songwriters!’ Back to New York City Lisa returned yet again to New York City for shows at some of NYC’s most prestigious acoustic venues. Sep 7 – Trowsefest, Norwich June 4 – Lisa played a charity show at The Phoenix, Manchester May Shows in New York Lisa returned to New York for a show at the prestigious Kntting Factory, for a really cool Americana night called ‘Orgapalooza’. She also played the respected Rockwood Music Hall (picture below by Paul Syznol) and headlined at the lovely Caffe Vivaldi in Greenwich Village. Thanks again to those who came along to the shows and bought CDs. During this trip, ‘Fell on Hard Times’ again received airplay on Bob Harris’s Radio 2 show and has become one of the most played tracks on his Saturday show.
April Shows in Manchester: Through April Lisa played shows in and around Manchester. These included the Winelight Club at Bury Met, Taurus and Trof 2 in the Northern Quarter. Bob Harris Presents..Americana at The Borderline February 4th – Lisa was personally asked to be the very special guest at the recent Bob Harris Presents..Americana night at London’s Borderline.
