When critics have reached for words to describe the voice of Norwich singer-songwriter Lisa Redford, “angelic” is the one they most use. So it’s only apt that this, her long-awaited debut album, can best be described as heavenly. The 12 tracks here showcase her songwriting talent and musical ability in spades. They include Turn Away (given a sneak preview on our Guide #1 sampler earlier this year), and the other 11 tracks are equally strong. Lisa has fleshed out her acoustic sound with the help of some excellent contributors, most notably Chris Ellis’ wonderful piano work on tracks such as Be Around and the hypnotic Blue.
