Lisa performed on November 16th at The Theatre Royal, Workington, Cumbria. The headline was Tom Hingley (ex Inspiral Carpets frontman). Other performers included singer-songwriter Elaine Palmer. Lisa supporting The Arlenes Lisa performed to a very receptive audience when she supported The Arlenes who are husband and wife Big Steve and Stephanie whose album was ‘Americana Album Of The Month’ in Mojo Lisa supporting Boo Hewedine On Friday 11th October Lisa performed at A Celebration of Songwriting (A Special Charity Performance in praise of Boo Hewerdine) The Assembly House, Norwich hosted an evening of the work of Boo Hewerdine and this was also the first time some of Boos latest songs from his new album Anon was heard. Boo Hewerdine is in great demand as a songwriter for other artists. He both writes for, and performs with, Eddi Reader, he penned the Brit-winning hit Patience of Angels for her, and has written many songs for her last five albums. He has also written with and for: kd lang, McAlmont, Jerry Douglas, Nashville Bluegrass Bandand Alison Brown (all featuring ‘O Brother Where Art Thou’ musicians) to name but a few. He co-wrote and produced the scores for films Fever Pitch and Twentyfourseven. The evening included the back catalogue of his material sung by female singer-songwriter Lisa Redford who has sung Boo songs live before at the Mean Fiddler, the melodic duo Alias Grace and the solo artist Chris Ellis, an excellent performer, whose latest release is Tread Softly. Also performing were Andrew Taylor, a big hit at the Nick Drake tribute here last year, and Giles Massingham who has had the honour of Boo writing songs for him. We also introduced Threewheeler, an acoustic trio from Brighton. Money raised on the night went towards a young child with Autism called George, the charity is for HUGS (help unlock George’s speech). She also performed ‘Carolina Rain’ and ‘Red Eyes’ live. Lisa at Acoustic Routes Lisa performed a solo set to a packed crowd at Acoustic Routes at CB2 in Cambridge on October 5th. During the set she played new songs Carolina Rain and Hope Never Dies for the first time. New Lisa Redford CD ‘Carolina Rain’ Lisa has been busy in the studio this month. They are now included on a new version of the CD ‘Carolina Rain’, an acoustic CD of songs all written by Lisa. August 2002 An Evening with Lisa at Lounge Lisa performed an extended set of her songs acoustic and her jazz set with Pat at Lounge on St Benedicts Street, Norwich on August 27th. Among the many songs she performed were great covers of Constant Craving, Patience of Angels and Back on the Chain Gang. July 2002 Lisa performed latin jazz and soul at The Eagle in Norwich with Pat on July 28th. Lisa at Benefit gig Lisa performed a solo set of her own songs at The Brickmakers in Norwich on July 13th as part of a benefit gig for HUGS (Help Unlock George’s Speech charity). George is a local boy who suffers from Autism and the night raised cash for him to improve his speech. Also performing were Lazlo (acoustic) and Beaker.
Lisa performed at Norwich Arts Centre on July 10th. She did a special latin jazz set with Raincheck. June 2002 Lisa at National Festival of New Music Lisa performed a special solo set on the acoustic stage at the National Festival of New Music on June 18th at Northampton’s Roadmender. She got a great reception and during her set she played a brand new song ‘Red Eyes’.
Lisa at King Street Festival Lisa performed at the King Street Festival on June 3rd with jazz band Raincheck. She sang ‘The Gentle Rain’ and ‘The Shadow of your Smile’ to a huge crowd.
April 2002 Lisa at Kate Bush tribute
Lisa performed at a tribute concert on April 26th at The Assembly House honouring one of her favourite artists, Kate Bush. She was accompanied on grand piano by Peter Chilvers of Alias Grace who also performed, and Chris Ellis for the second half. March 2002 Lisa live dates Lisa performed three special acoustic sets (featuring jazz, bossa nova and soul numbers) with guitarist Pat. The dates were Norwich Playhouse on the 25th March, at Norwich Arts Centre on the 27th March and The Ferryboat Inn on 1st April. The showcase gigs also featured melodic rock band Cookie and jazz/soul band Cohesion. December 2001 Lisa performed songs from the new CD at the Station Inn, Wymondham November 2001 After her successful tour of the USA Lisa has been working with various dance producers and writers with the possibility of being a featured vocalist – keep returning here for all the latest news. The Inbetweeners, featuring Redford’s track Food Song, is now out on video and DVD and available to buy at various music and video sites such as HMV Lisa appears on a live CD of the concert ‘A Tribute to Nick Drake’ which was recorded on the 6 April 2001.
